Autism Empowerment Workshops
Autism Empowerment Workshops are designed to empower teenagers and adults with autism through engaging workshops that focus on essential life skills.
In a classroom-style, hands-on setting, participants learn practical abilities such as typing, doing laundry, food safety, money management, and more. These workshops not only enhance their independence, but also foster social interaction and self-confidence.
The goal is to create a supportive environment where teenagers and adults with autism can acquire valuable skills, enabling them to lead more fulfilling and functionally-independent lives.
Duration: 1.5 hours
Workshop Focus Examples:
Life Skills Focus
- Money management: identifying coins/bills, counting change, making a purchase
- Food safety & simple meal prep: hand-washing, safe handling, making a snack
Independence & Organization Focus
- Laundry & clothing care: sorting, washing, folding
- Household organization: cleaning basics, scheduling chores
Social & Practical Skills
- Social interaction practice: greetings, turn-taking, conversation starters
- Using technology for independence: calendar apps, reminders, basic typing
Workshop Structure:
1. Welcome & Orientation (15 min): Icebreakers, overview of goals, expectations
2. Skill Instruction (30-45 min): Demonstration, step-by-step guidance, Q&A
3. Hands-On Practice (45-60 min): Activities, group exercises, role-play
4. Reflection & Wrap-Up (15-20 min): Share learning, celebrate achievements, handouts & certificates

One-Time Workshop: 1.5-hour session, materials and refreshments included – $65 per participant
